Althought the replacement instrument cluster looks very nice, from the pic's, it's difficult to compare scroll pattern on the face of the panel to that of the original, to me it appears different. Several yrs. ago I called 2-3 plastic rechome platers and was very please with disscussion I had with owner of Quality Mustang. He gave me an estimate over the phone then I paid the cost of shipping the entire instrument cluster to the plater and within a few days received a quote of $135. I was very pleased with the results, the cluster looked like new, they made repairs to minor cracks, plated the face and also gauge rings.
daveengelson - Do you have the contact info for Quality Mustang, I found one on google but it didn't mention restoration of gauge panels -- Thanks
Sorry for posting the source before confirming, as I mentioned, it was several yrs. ago. I came across Quality by chance; ran a search on Plastic Plater and came up with a list and contacted them and made my decission based on conversation with Ray Azcue. I just tried calling the # on his website but it appears to be disconnected. I left a message on his cel phone and if he does get back I will provide an update. I would hate to see another quality restoration source go by the way side. Perhaps business fell off and now working out of his home, had the instrument cluster restored on my 64 by a person who only does GTO dashes out of his home.
I'm in the process of replacing my instrument bezel, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how the round auxillary oil pressure/amps gauges com off. I don't see the hardware for holding on the chrome trim ring in front of the bezel.
Anyone on here ever taken these apart before? I really don't want to break anything trying, even the original brezel I'm replacing.
Any help is much appreciated.
I have restored a few of those clusters. A pretty simple but somewhat time consuming job. Before and after of gauge, I use fluorescent paint and a q-tip for the needles. Well worth the effort to make the dash look fresh again.
Hey Boss, how did you manage to get the trim rings off of those oil & alt gauges? I want to paint the needles on mine too. I'm also curiuous as to how to reset the mileage on the odometer. I have a spare speedo I'd like to use.

I used the yellow handled screw driver in one of the first pics to remove bezels, a larger one to re-install.

He has not responded to my tele message, or email so assume he's no longer in business. Shame, the shop put out quality work. He should update, or delete his website. Sorry!!
I've had a new bezel ordered thru both DC & Macs now. Each time they call me a few weeks later & say this item is out of stock from their vendor/supplier. Anyone know of another source for these, or better yet if they have them in stock?
Paid through the nose for it, but I got my bezel. Got the trim rings off my gauges too, thanks to Boss9's info. I've been cleaning up a spare set to practice on. I noticed that the white painted markings on the gauges is pretty delicate. Just wiping with a soft cloth started causing a little smearing of the white paint. Any suggestions as to how to clean them up without erasing them?
Gauges are done! I picked the best of the two sets of gauges & installed them into the new bezel. They didn't come out too bad, if I do say so myself. Thanks for all the help I got from all who posted & replied to PMs. I couldn't have done it without you.
I know it's not real without them, so here are a few pics:
