So I have a full size 12ft in bed camper that I haul . And I'm thinking of getting the big double trailer hitch so it will extend out past the camper overhang so I can haul my sixteen foot flat bed with quads . How will the truck do with that much weight? Also I have air bags on
git 'r' done! That truck will pull your whole house to the lake if you wanted it to. I have hauled 16 thousand pounds of metal with my truck before. She grunted a little but she sure did one helluva job for me. That doesnt include the weight of the trailer either.
Just make sure your brakes are up to the task. Getting the load moving isn't nearly as important as being able to stop it safely. Consider trailer brakes.
I kind of miss my full size 12ft. slide-in camper I use to have, old heavy 1970's Shamrock camper.
Stock F250, single wheels, no sway bars, and no real air bags. Just some big rubber boots.
Sure was tippy in high winds.
Just over 5 tons on the scales. Never towed anything behind it with the camper on it though. I can't imagine a small flat bed trailer with a couple quads on it would make much of a difference...
No they just might walk all over the road though. Wont be able to see it either. Out of site, out of mind is NOT a good thing in this application. Might consider sway bars for the hitches on the second trailer. Going to have to splice into the trailer wiring for the second trailer too. Should be pretty simple for that one.
