1965 Camper Special that actually hauls a camper yet

I bought an immaculate 1978 Real-lite 10' slide in camper from the original owner to go camping with. It was always stored indoors since day one new. Other that when him and his wife were out camping, it's never seen the weather. He was 85 at the time and was giving up camping, so I bought it from him. My intentions were to use in the back of my dually truck, but would have to modify the jack stands to clear the fenders and also extend them to raise it to the height of the bed. With in a couple days of the purchase of the camper, I ended up buying a 1965 F250 Camper Special (wasn't even looking but by chance right place, right time) The truck and camper haven't been separated since 2008 when the two were first mated together. Use it a few camping trips a year, and its a blast to take out. We get so many "thumbs up" while out on the road with it.

How cool, definitely an eye catcher. The combo seem to blend well together. Now a matter of preserving the interior thru the damp wintery months. Thanks for sharing.

My camper tie-downs are directly on the box/body of this truck. Was this standard practice 50+ years ago to mount them this way? Was this factory installed like that with the "camper special" option?

I've only seen them tied down with the frame mounted tube method, under the body.
