Hello Gang,

This weekend I'm going to atemped to replace my stock mpg robing down pipe with the diamond eye one I bough a while ago. I know I have cut and mod the body but how much? Also will regular steel sawzal blade cut the old one out?

Any info would be great!

When Me and My Dad put mine in, we used a Porta-Power to bend the seam back.

Port-a-power is the tool of choice here.
Makes the job go sooooo much better.

Get long sawzall blades, too, will help cutting the old pipe.

Each truck seems to be different as far as clearance goes. On mine I just used a crow bar and a piece of lumber to bend the seam after I cut it and it fit fine, had to adjust some things so it didn't rub on the transmission lines.

Hardest part was getting the old one out... a good sawzall and good blades are necessary. (Don't use a battery powered one, lol)

You'll want to put the new downpipe in from the top if you want to avoid "modifying" the firewall. Sawzall works just fine but takes a while. You're gonna love the stock "smoosh pipe" you pull outta there. I have no idea what the engineers were thinking when they designed it that way.

Good Luck!!

I had to stick the top half of the downpipe in from the top, then slid the bottom half up from the bottom.

Still had to bend the seem so it wouldn't rub.

It took a lot of patience and wiggling (and a small amount of beating with a 2x4) but I got it in without bending anything. Maybe my truck is just looser than yours (giggity)
