the other day i put my chip in my truck for the first time and since then it has had this issue it will do it even when i take it out so it could be coincedence but my truck will start cold fine, but when it gets warm and i shut it off and then try to start it,i have to crank it for a LONG time before it fires up. sometimes 2 cycles of 30 sec cranking. and when it starts sometimes it will sit and lope for a couple seconds then even out and sometimes when it starts it doesnt. the one time i got it to start after cranking for a while the check engine light came on but then when i shut it off and started it back up it wasnt on anymore. also while its cranking i dont see any smoke coming out of the tail pipe and it knocks a couple times while im cranking it. not sure if it could be a weak fuel pump but i just replaced that 8 months ago. any help would be appreciated thanks!
here is what i have done to my truck....
brand new Rosewood Stage I's
ts 6 position chip-programmed for an automatic(not sure if that would make a huge difference but from the research i did it would be fine to run)
3 in downpipe
4 in exhaust
had the 10k resistor mod but took it out when i got the chip
new valve cover gaskets and new pigtail.
When the eng is cold your oil is thicker so it builds pressure easy and after it warms up your oil thins out and the oil get pass the orings making it harder to build pressure the only way to test them is to change them
i did a search in google and i cant remember which forum it was but one of them had a guy who did it with out an issue. and people agreed that it shouldnt cause any issues cause even though the chip is programmed for an automatic my truck dont have one so it would be "extra programming" that isnt used. but ill try replacing the orings tomorrow if i can get them...do the parts stores carry them or is it a dealer only?
ok cool thanks ill see if they are open tomorrow rumor has it that the one in town is open on sundays but not sure. ill try it and let ya know......and one more thing i forgot to add would it have any issues running if they are bad becasue it seems to run fine once it fires up......just need to be as close to sure as possible i have verry limited funds this week lol
well i cant replace them till tomorrow but when i went out to grab a bite to eat i decided to take a video of how it starts when its warm the first video is when i have it running still (while up to operating temp) then shuting it off for a couple seconds and then restarting it, the second one is after it sits for about a minuteit revs up because i am pushing on the accelerator to try to get er goin'. thanks and of course ill come back if the orings do fix it i love this place lol
