i got a phone call at work.. the truck isnt running rite. trying to get good info from my wife on this is like pulling teeth. i call a friend. he went to look at it and scanned it. missing on startup. he pops the hood one of the coils is hanging out. so i buy a accel on the way home. i put it in. still missing. could the coil hanging out have caused the plug to go out?

Probably the other way around...plug blew out taking the coil with it maybe not, couldn't hurt to double check
accel coils...umm... are not the best choice....many bad out of the box.
i rescanned it last night. still a mis fire on #6 cyl so i swapped the accel coil out with another to make sure it wasnt the problem . drove it around for a few miles and scanned again. still #6 misfire. i have a set of plugs sitting here but i couldnt find my plug gapper. ill pick one up today and change the plugs.
if you pop the hood and listen to it, does it sound like a whooshing noise coming from the cylinder? do you know about the spark plug ejecting problem?
you will know if it spit out a plug you will definitely be able to hear it if it did advance auto parts has a kit to fix it. It comes with an adapter that will thread into the head and comes with a longer spark plug.
i figured it out. i feel dumb. i forgot how the cylinders were numbered on ford and didnt change #6. i guess it was a coincidence that the screw was missing from #2 and i changed it instead. the # 6 coil was firing but through the boot. and somebody changed half of the plugs. it had 4 autolites and 4 motocraft. they obviously knew nothing about gapping them. they ranged from .40 to .60
