HPOP upgrade
I have seen some talk about upgrading the 97 7.3 HPOP with one for a SD.... Is this a good upgrade? direct replacement? If so, what are part numbers and approximate cost?........ I removed mine today. Removed timing cover chasing the source of coolant in the oil...Found it!! rubber gaskets / orings at top of timing cover deteriorated. Perfect time for this upgrade if possible... Thanks, Brian

The upgrade to the 17 deg HPOP from the Super Duty is a nice one, but I wouldn't buy the pump new. There are better upgrades for less money if you're forced to go that route. If you can find a deal on a used one, then by all means jump on it.

T500 is an upgrade for the SD 17° and the OBS 15°.
Joey takes the OBS 15 and turns it into a ball bearing 17, and takes the SD journal bearing 17 and turns it into a ball bearing 17 both with flow mods.
For 250 dollars, there is nothing to beat it, unless somebody buys you one.
