Is it me or does it look like there's a 32ish Ford trying to jump over the Uhaul truck in Josh's picture?
LOL ya I was wondering if anyone would notice that, i tried to get a picture of it before I passed it, but took that one over my shoulder as I was passing it... looked like a cool shop there for building hotrods etc!

thanks
When I went to the small yard in Jerome a few years ago he was in the process of cleaning up all the loose parts, junk etc. and I scored some running boards, fenders and other misc truck parts. he didn't want to part out any of the complete trucks but I thought he said they were for sale?? who knows now?
I picked up the cabover up in Gooding ID.
I stopped in at L&L classics to inquire about some wheels for another member here but didn't have time to browse around, Im not sure I could have afforded a 50 year old bald/flat tire from them anyway?? seemed like what they had was priced as if it was not just gold plated but solid gold!
It did look like they had a great selection though...
just start looking behind every shed, barn, and among old tractor and implement parking area's and you'll soon have more truck options to know what to do with
Looks like a solid body with minimal rust, I hate seing these big trucks sitting and usually ending up at the crushers because nowbody wants them, As others have mentioned the cab is the same as the 1/2 tons, hood is the same, all you would ,if you want is change the front fenders to 1/2 ton fenders which have a smaller opening, ditch the frame!! use a s10, ranger, explorer, do a thread search on this, theres lots of articles.,
L&L classics is state renown for being expensive. it usually starts at a low price and on the way back to the yard it goes through the roof. most people dont like the owner but are waiting for the esate sale when he dies. there is cars dating back to the turn of the century (1900s). sadly anymore, people have a rust bucket and they think that they have gold. only 16 years ago my dad bought a fairly complete 46 ford car for 300 dollars and it had the normal rust, now it is almost cleaned up and will soon be my daily driver. i hope i never get stuck in the rut of million dollar rust sales.
update on the truck down the road:
my dad cant find the guys # in the phonebook so im gonna have to stop by his house. i also have a friend who has a 51 f3 platform stake im gonna try to get a ride in. still working on going to look at the F6 again.
Hi and welcome Glad to see such a young person that is interested in these older trucks. I personally like to see these old trucks stay as trucks but also understand that they are not really practical. How useful will it be when it is finished?
Have you considered the possibility of putting the 52 - F-6 cab onto a newer 1 1/2 ton chassis? Anyone have any thoughts or input on this idea? One would probably want something with a straight frame. Just a thought
Good luck and keep thinking.
There have seen a few suggestions of putting the F-6 cab on a newer chassis. I'm seeing YFK as an inexperienced truck person with limited skills and funds, doing a chassis swap is neither easy or cheap if it's to be done to make a safe reliable vehicle. I would strongly discourage any one from doing this unless the person has the skills, money, time and a place to do it. Let's not encourage YFK to take on such a difficult project. The possibility of getting into such a complex project and loosing interest and money is pretty high. The best options, in my opinion, is to either leave it on the frame and build it close to original or swap it on a same vintage smaller truck chassis and maybe upgrading the drive train and suspension.
its true i do have limited funds but my dad has a shop and i can weld and do basic sheetmetal work. i would just prefer to get a F1 or F2 on a chassis that has a engine and tranny all in the same box. a chassis swap wouldnt be so hard i would just need the other chassis and funds to rebuild the drive train.
im gonna try some of the junk yards around here and see if i cant come up with a complete truck for under 1k. i am gonna try to talk to the owner of the 51 down the road.
YFK, do a search of the FTE board for frame swaps, there are many posts about this subject. It's not as easy as most think. There are some very big differences in way the old Bonus Built trucks were built, frame widths, along with axle width are way different. Building proper body brackets are a major task. I've posted to the chassis swap posts many times telling the person contemplating do it that if they feel they could do it, go for it but it's not for the novice.
the guy who owns the 51 F1 down the street was a complete ***hole about it and pissed my dad off. so im shopping for a 51 or 52 ford F1-F3 pickup in idaho.

Be patient YFK (hope it's ok to steal that Bob) and find something that will work for you within budget. It's good advice to be realistic about the project. Believe me a realistic project will get done alot faster than the other kind and you'll be sending us pics of you enjoying your ride alot sooner than doing it the other way. Just don't send any pics of your speedo reading 100mph plus like a certain FTE from FL...
Rare 1951 Ford F5 (1 1/2 ton). Hydraulic bed and hoist operate smoothly. Electrical system converted to 12 volt; otherwise mostly original. Body fairly straight, dents on top of cab. Runs but does have some issues. Great for restoration project, advertising or part-time dump truck.
$1500 OBO
I will be available to make sale from June 23-June 26 only. Contact me if you would like to see it then. Serious inquiries only, please.
