You chould have a leak from any one number of seals... so if you are leaking and driping on the ground let us know and we can give you detailed instruction on how to diagnose which seal and how to replace it if necessary... If your main berings are bad you can develope engine noises down low in the block and your oil pressure will not be that great. You can get a oil pressure guage for $20-$30 and test your oil pressure right at the engine block if you want to. It's pretty easy to do! Just let us know more details.
Well if you have low pressure because the main bearings are worn out....then the entire engine is pretty much toast. The fix would be to rebuild the whole thing, not a very easy job.
The half-assed way to do it would be to just remove the pan and replace the main bearings, however it may not even get your pressure back up depending on how worn down the crank is. Plus this wouldnt be easy either, dropping the oil pan on a 302 in these trucks is a major pain.
