oil leaks

Sws, Is the leak an engine oil leak or does it seem to be more like a power steering fluid leak? I would assume that the truck is still under warranty? Take it to the dealer. My 99' Expi had an oil leak from the passenger side head. 5.4 engine. It was a recall where Ford would either replace the head and gasket or the entire engine. Not to say that is what the problem is with your 4.6 engine. I believe that my problem was mainly on trucks with 5.4's but I did hear the same of some 4.6's. Both engines are from the "moduler" family of engines. Either way, the truck is too new to have a leak reguardless of where it is coming from. I would take it to the dealer and let them handle it. Good luck.

oil leaks

Remember that when you change your filter, oil drips down into that small collection pan below the filter. When you drive, the oil blows back and then down the chassis. To check this -- the next time you change your oil, clean the oil pan out good and wipe up all other oil. Then check again in a few weeks and see if you still see oil drops.

I just got a swingin' deal on a '99 gator, 5.4, 4wd, that has a power steering leak. Power washed the underside and watched it while running. The leak is coming from the two-wire connector on the bottom side of the pump. Is this a pressure sensor? The dealer can't identify it on their schematics and a Haynes manual doesn't show it. I would just pop it off and replace it, or block it, but can't figure out how to get it off!! Any help?
