Hi all, just joined this site a while ago, its great i cant get enough of it! Because this is my first post I was wondering if i could get u guys to decode the vin on my '66 flareside for me. I would love to know the history of it. Im 16 and this is my first slick (not even gonna get into the details of how i managed to snag it) and anything you could tell me would be a great help. thanks!
Take another look at you warranty plate, your Serial Number is missing a digit. The warranty plate should have more information than whats in the lower line. Here is a link to a thread that has the warranty tag, it should be located on the drivers door. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ag-decode.html
dont worry, put please do tell how you got your slick.
we all love to know how each other "as you said" hook our rides lol.
if you can just take a pic of your door plate and post it and you will get more than you ever asked for.
Guess i can explain how i ended up with a slick for my first vehicle, Anyways my dad found this truck about 7 or 8 years ago from some farm in south Montana on C.L. it had been sitting in a field for quite some time. For the first couple years it sat in our barn until eventually he decided to drop 302 into it from a '84 mustang gt350, and a freshly rebuilt c6 to put behind it. It was his daily driver until my parents decided to get a divorce several years later, so the truck went up for sale. As a last resort, instead of selling it he decided to have it written into the divorce that i receive the truck because he believed it should be kept in the family, which did not please my mother. Unfortunately it sat for quite some time before i realized what a great gift i had recieved and rust started to take its toll on the body. But long story short, because of my parents nasty divorce i ended up with a slick to drive as my first vehicle, for free! worked out well for me!
Now it's time to make it your own and this site is the place to do it.
you will find everything you need to know and more on this site and if you can't just ask and
You will be surprised how generous people are with information. Enjoy your slick.

oddly enough, i went and took a look at the drivers side door again, and the warranty plate thats supposed to be there, isnt there! the only numbers there were on an aluminum stamp riveted onto the door, with the same original numbers i put (might have missed some digits) F10816843, and F100 81 c c 2, put in that exact order spaces and all. anyone have any idea why this stamp may be there instead of the original warranty plate?
