Power Steering Help

It seems like yall do a lot more of these over in this forum than in the 67-72 bump forum so i thought i would throw this over here too.
Okay so I have been doing some research here and there for installing power steering on my truck. It is a 1969 F-250 4x4 with a 4 inch lift. Here are my questions...
1) What would be best? Installing the power steering gear inside or outside of the frame rails.
2) I would like to do a cross over steering conversion when i find a dana 60, so I would like to leave a set up as and just switch from the push-pull to the crossover when the time comes... or if you can do a cross over on a closed knuckle HD dana 44 that would be nice.
3) What box would be best for this application. I have looked for the 78-79 4x4 F-250 and havent found any in this whole time.
4) And the last question. What is the final parts list for this whole set up?
I think a complete parts list would do a lot of good for anybody else trying to do this.

Sorry for the long post,
Michael

Here you go: Ford F250 Conversion

Ya might be able to do a conversion for less if you can figure out the parts and pieces. As an example, I did a 78/79 Bronco integral PS swap into my 73 F100 for $353.

Cross-over steering.... hmm... I suggest contacting Ballistic Fabrications for arms, links, and rod ends.

That was good info. I'm more of a junkyard runner. I'm a college student and really don't have the funds to blow that kind of money. I know how to weld and can do what is most likely needed to do for this. I'm just wondering off of what truck or trucks should I grab parts from to do this and what parts should be used.

Same here... except for the college student stuff but it wasn't that long ago.

Have you read the sticky in the bumpside forum? There's a tech article in there already: Power Assist To Power Steering Conversion On An F250 4x4 .: Articles

I read that. I just kinda wanted to know like what a good year truck for getting a box from or if I could do a crossover right off the bat without having a Dana 60 under the truck. http://www.offroaders.com/tech/Steering-Systems.htm this website has some I was kinda looking into the v-type setup cause I think that would be best for the closed knuckle Dana that I have under there right now. I was also wondering if the crossover would interfere with the leaf springs at all.

A properly designed crossover system won't interfere with the leaf springs. The crossover link and drag link will maintain its relative position to the leafs.

As far as what steering box to look for, you'll have to do your own sleuthing and homework by taking measurements, noting spline counts, analyzing geometry, and understanding which aftermarket parts (hi-steer arms, custom links, etc.) are available.

The V system to which you are referring isn't a crossover design. Second, the V system exaggerates bump steer which is one reason the half-ton 78-79 4x4 linkages is way better than the 76-77 linkages.

I don't understand why ya wanna do things twice (D44 then a D60) cuz it'll likely cost more in the long run. Is it a case of "I want it now"? Do it once and do it right.

It's more of the I can do the powersteering half now and If I could just make some sort of crossover for the 44 till I can locate the funds for a 60 then I'll do that. If not then I'll just suck it up and find the 60 somewhere
