Ford has typically stated in the past that Ford parts have an expected lifespan of 150,000 miles. Obviously that will vary by application, user, what the truck has been used for, and the maintenance history.
Lots of users here are closing in on 200,000 miles on the original trans.

At 85000 my 06 F150 with the 5.4 is slipping a little when cold and ocasionally shifting sloppy. Called the dealer and he said theres a bullitin about having to reset the computers on 06 thru 08's. Anyone hadf to have this done?

My '05 has 228,000 miles on it and the transmission still performs as good as new.
I drop the pan every 35K +/- miles, change the filter every other time, then refill with Merc V. (And I use Advance Auto house brand Merc V.)
