Hooking Factory Installed Rear View Camera to Factory Installed Upfitter Switch
I have the factory installed rear-view camera, navigation system, and upfitter switches on my new 2011 F-250. Does anyone know how to hook up the rear-view camera to an upfitter so I could monitor the trailer hookup while traveling? I am not tech savvy. Is this still something that I could do myself?

Coastal E-Tech's Lockpick will give you this functionality, also enables DVD's and address input for the nav while moving. I have one on my truck and it works great.
I have seen somewhere on the site here where someone was working on the setup you have in mind but the lockpick is plug and play, about a 2-3 beer install (depending on how fast you drink/work). Here's their site:

Anyone have a REAL answer to this?

I have an 08 SD. I was wondering the same thing. I searched all over the forum and found nothing on it. So, I did a google search which brought me back to your question, with no answer; no 'real' answer. I am not unlike yourself. I have a camera. I have upfitter switches. Finding a way to combine the two = happy.
Here's hoping, that by bringing this thread back to life, somebody with an answer will see this.

you can do it for about $1 using a diode
or a few hundred $$$ using the Lockpick.
Run a wire from the upfitter switch up the drivers column to the rearview mirror. Find the the Green/brown wire. Install the diode so it is allows flow to the mirror. Then connect the wire from the upfitter between the diode and the mirror.
When you flip the upfitter, the diode will prevent backpowering your Inst. Cluster and turning on the reverse lights. Power from the upfitter will make the mirror think the truck is in reverse, which will turn it on and the video will work.
pretty easy, just a few minutes to connect stuff.
here is the wiring diagram from a 2009. the pinout #'s are wrong in a few spots, but the colors should be spot on.

Got a write up on how to do it for the nav units?
Looking at the wiring diagram for the 2011+ head units, there's the following wires for the rear cam:
Wht/Grn = Video +
Bn/Vt = Video -
And then the following is listed for the Video Shield - DMP19 (no color provided). I don't see a reverse wire like you have illustrated for the rear view mirror modification.

where does your video display when the camera is on? if it displays on the rearview mirror, you will need to add the trigger wire like I discussed above. then you'll need to splice in a +/- wires and run those to the nav unit
should work as desired then once the +/- wires are ran to the Nav unit
if the display is on the nav unit itself, that will be fun. These radios are controlled by the CanBus in the truck. I'd have to look through the wiring diagrams, but not certain you can externally trigger it.

KnightTime has the nav where the camera is on the nav screen, from what I've read, it's not an easy undertaking but I believe someone over at thedieselstop had a custom shop do it.

I did this on My 2010 F350 with the camera in the mirror. It was easy to install the diode in the wiring harness in the passenger side A post kick panel. My friend that put the diode in with me and I tried to do the same mod on a 2011 with the camera in the mirror and it did not work. We couldn't find the correct wire to turn the camera on. We also tried to do this to a 2009 with the Nav camera and when you try to use the same wire as the 2010 it didn't work, the camera is controlled somewhere else. We are looking over wiring diagrams now, but still not sure how to do it.
By the way the wire we used for the 2010 was a Green wire with a Brown tracer.

2011 camera on nav screen
Thanks to all for the info. I'm looking for the same answer as several others seem to be seeking. I have the 2011 with the camera display in the nav screen and would love to jump it with an upfitter switch. I've used diodes on previous trucks and understand that, but does anyone know if there is a trigger wire for the nav camera monitor?
Thanks,
Scott
