All 1960/65 Passenger Cars, Trucks, 1961/65 Econoline engine blocks, heads, intake manifolds, waterpumps, oil pans and etc were painted black.
The valve covers were painted specific colors, as this was the way FoMoCo ID'd the engine sizes for mechanics/bodymen.
However, trucks may use one specific color for valve covers for a certain engine, while Passenger Cars may use the same color for a different engine!
Example: 1965 F100/350 352: Black engine, Gold valve covers / 1965 Passenger Car 289 2V: Black engine, Gold valve covers.
1965 Passenger Car 352 2V: Black engine, Blue valve covers.
1966: All engines were painted Ford Corporate Blue for the first time, including the valve covers and dry type (paper filter) air cleaners.
The oil bath air cleaners were painted black regardless of what color the engine was painted.
btw: This specific valve cover color jazz was first used in 1952, when FoMoCo introduced OHV engines (215 I-6 Ford Passenger Cars/Trucks & 317 V8 [Y block], used in Lincoln's).
