I'm not here for nothing big just oilchange and coolant flush. But man when I got here and talked to the service advisor about changing my 5w20 to 5w30 he said y and I had informed him on some of the stuff I had been reading on FTE he said he didn't think it waz a good idea I personal thought there really wasn't that big of change between the to weights. But I told him that's what I wanted so he said OK then. But I feel cofident it will b just fine. And by the way I just seen this ford RAPTOR man what a good lookin truck but then I seen the sticker price 55000 OUCH and gas mileage 11 in town and 14 on hwy ouch again. I will check back later what do yall think thanks shane
I have read several post on fte about using diesel oil 15 40 an about using 5 20 an 5 30 I don't remember what post I read it but I have talked to techs some on here that said they use an recomend 2 things. Using syn blend or full syn 5w30 an changing every 3000 miles. I know ford says 5000 miles but. I don't know maybe its just whatever u feel is good. The advisor said ford used to recomend 530 but changed it to 520 and he used to run 530 in the hotter months.
Are you having any problems that would cause you to want to runner the heavier oil? The only time people were running the 15w40 was to quiet the cam phaser ticking.
NO PROBLEMS TO SPEAK OF BUT YOUR RIGHT I HAVE HEARD THAT THE HEAVIER OIL WAS USED TO QUIET DOWN THE FAMOUS TICKING NOISE. BUT NOT IN ALL CASES. I HAVE USED HEAVIER OIL IN ALL MY TRUCKS BUT ONLY WHEN THEY GET UP IN MILEAGE BECAUSE THE LIGHTER OIL WOULD NOT STAY IN THEM BUT MY FORD HASN'T REACHED THE HIGH MILEAGE YET ONLY 55000 MILES RIGHT NOW. IS THERE REALLY THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 520 AN 530 MOTOR OIL? OTHER THAN THE OBVIOUS.
