V10 skipping problem

I have a 2002 F250 supercrew cab, I bought it with a skipping problem. found out there were 3 different types of spark plugs in it, and two were cracked. had those changed which helped out alot. then I had an exhaust leak by the manifold which was
causing some hesitation. had that fixed also and it ran alot better. but now when i just put the truck in drive or when i stop at a red light, it seems to skip. when just in idle it doesn't. I have had the fuel filter changed also. there are no lights on the dash, and it's throwing NO codes. can anyone point me in a direction that might be able to help me out. much appreciated
Brian

Did you change the COP boots when you changed the plugs? What plugs did you use?

A LOT of used car dealers steam clean the engine or hose it down with water to clean it up prior to selling it. That tends to fill up the spark plug recess with water surrounding the plug/COP boot assembly with water and can cause misfires. Its possible at idle and low rpms you are still having a missfire but your IAC could be dirty or need replacing also. If the COP boots are original I would change all of them as they are going on a decade old. They may still look good but could have a small crack, hole or a bad seal on the plug. Think of the COP boot as the spark plug wire insulation. I'm not surprised you are not getting any DTCs with a slight misfire.

Plugs

It sounds like you only changed out 3 plugs. I would change all plugs to the motorcraft plug for your truck. This engine only likes ford plugs.

Also clean the Coil Over Plug is a great idea.

Thanks Donovan and all others for helping me start to figure out this minor but irritating problem with my V10. I will start changing and cleaning the coils and boots. I will keep you all posted on the progress and what actually fixes the problem, so others can benefit if they have a similar problem.
