Firestone Airbag Switch
Has anyone installed the dual switch for the firestone airbags?
Do you have any pics of the switch installed?
Thanks
Ben
Maybe this will help. I would be interested in some first-hand accounts of installation and pics if available.
I read the instructions, but they only show electrical connections for the lights and tubing connections for the air. I would love to see a picture of one installed in a superduty. I am also curious if the panel can be taken apart and then the components mounted in my dash. I am also open to any ones homemade ideas to inflate or deflate from in the cab.
I am not familiar with the Firestone system but it might be similar to how AirLift does it. My AirLift on board compressor came with a pressure gauge, release valve and momentary switch mounted on a common bracket. I used that for a while until I got my F650 dash.
At that point, I removed the items from the bracket and relocated them to the F650 dash, it was pretty simple to do. It's hard to see in the photo so I labeled the parts. The air release valve and momentary switch are at the very bottom (below the air bag gauge).
I made a plate to fit in where the cup dropper used to be and put the switch there.

First is an 03 with an electric pump hooked direct (no tank). Third switch from the left is a momentary up and down, up sends power to the compressor, down is an ignition override (not related to the air bags). The gauge was mounted down below on the left, and the button between the 2 gauges is the pressure release to deflate the bags. The panel is an F650 panel ordered from parts guy Ed, and the switches are Carling Contura ordered from Alied. The compressor is an Airlift cheapo mounted behind the seat (reg cab). Works good.

Next is an 05 crew cab with on board air. The pneumatic switches are mounted in the dash where the ESOF switch would be (manual 4x on this one). Left switch is the left rear, middle is both fronts, right is right rear. Next pic is the pillar pod. Top gauge is a single gauge for the front bags, middle is a dual gauge for the rear bags, and bottom is an aeroforce scangauge. The pod was ordered color matched from riffraff. Third pic is the compressor behind the rear seat, the air tank not pictured is directly below it mounted to the frame rail.
