I took my soon-to-be 5 year old to his third swap meet. His last swap meet was when he was 3 years old. Thankfully, I remembered to bring his portable DVD player.
This is what the wagon looked like before we entered the swap meet.
And this is about 2.5 hours later heading back to the car. There was stuff everywhere on and in the wagon. He even held the grille all they way back to the car. My son is a trooper. He didn't whine or complain the whole time we were there. I did buy him a few toys that he saw and liked, and even took him to McD's for lunch. He and I had a blast.
This was our haul home.
The grille insert (original 32) and the steering wheel are for my friend's 30 Model A coupe project. The Buick Chassis Parts book I picked up for our friend Bob (bobj49f2) since he has a 37 Buick and is always looking for reference materials. The triple carb intake is an original Offenhauser that will likely go into the 51. The price was very attractive and I couldn't pass it up. I even came back home with a pocket full of money. This was one of the best swap meet hauls for me in a while.
Also went to another swap meet today, but didn't pick up anything interesting, besides a few more oil cans and handy oilers.
Any one else pick up something interesting this weekend? Post your finds if you got any.
That's cool... Saturday I went over to a friend to help putting his project back together after body off rebuild... 10 hrs later.... It looks like a golf cart again... LOL.. He's restoring a '74 AMC Harley Davidson 4 wheel Electric golfcart to use at work as there is 130 acres there... I'll take some pic's and post if someone wants to see... Need to finish installing the windshield, uhpolster the seats and the top (His gf) and install seats... We have to find a couple more electrical shorts for the Headlights and horn... But the headlights well never be used!
I have a friend/coworker that has 3 old 1956 Greyhound Scenicruisers.
He would lay a golden egg for that greyhound wagon! never seen one before.. im gonna have to show him!
The smile on his face is proof enough! Your son that is!
Looks like you had a great day! Thats cool that your little man enjoyed himself. Looks like you found some neat stuff.
We have two main swap meets here, one in the spring and one in the fall. They are both pretty predictable, mainly Chevy stuff and some old iron the people think is worth its weight in gold ( or shoudl I say worth its original weight in gold since most of it is rusted away...lol)
But, I was able to pick up a workable tailgate for my truck for $15 at the last meet...woohooo
Those are classic pics! Thanks for sharing. Good score at the swap meet looks like you guys did very well. I hope your son continues to like to go with you. My son is now 15 and he's not into it at all. Hopefully some day again...
Maybe I've got my head in the sand but I sure don't see many good swap meets in this area. I've been helping my Father-In-Law who recently sold his longtime Ford franchise get ready for his close out sale this weekend. Let's just say I could bring alot of stuff home!
now that's what i call parental prevention / intervention . you get them addicted to what you want them to be , not what all their peers will say in a few years ..............
