blower resistor pig tail

98' ranger 3.0 does anyone know where to get a new pig tail for the blower resistor except the dealer? I replace the resistor today and the plug is rusted and melted.

I cut the melted connector off and put individual connectors on each wire. I saved the old connector so that I could determin which wire went where. I did that about 2 or 3 years ago and havent had a problem with it since.

Dan, I hope you covered the terminals with some sort of insulator as those would be exposed with full battery voltage.
There are three sources, dealer, boneyard, and possibly some web sites, such as:

Automotive Electrical Connector Pigtails, Terminals, Tools and More

I have them in my bookmarks as:
repair pigtails & connectors for cars & trucks

I cheaped out and cut the wires off, then crimped spade type connectors and plugged them into the resistor. I also packed it full of dielectric grease, works.

Can anyone provide some images of the items I would need to purchase to do it the cheap way, i.e. cut the wires and connect them individually?

Go here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...r-catalog.html

See if you can find a pigtail connector to match. You can then solder and heat-shrink wrap the repair and have good faith that it will work for the life of the vehicle and NOT cause melted 'stuff' because of poor conductivity... You should see the melting that occurs in some headlight switches because of poor connections. And you get no warning that they are heating up.

Had the Same Issue

Went to replace the Resistor with the harness fused to the removed unit. Bought a pig tail at Car Quest for around 13.00 as I remember. Also had the inboard bolt/screw head stripped. Oh what fun...
