Fuel pressure concern.......advice needed

Hi,

I have the blue spring installed and have noticed that there are times (cold start ups) that my fuel pressure is idling @ 75psi. Other times it normally rides @ 68psi. As soon as I throttle the truck, it drops as it normally does. It is an intermittent occurence but......

Does anyone have any idea why?

Mine usually idles and runs at 70. If I go to wot it drops to about 66 or 65

Is the intermittent 75 psi something I should worry about?

How intermittent is it? Just for fractions of a secound? Or do you have to "throttle" to get the pressure to drop? If it's the later I'd be worried about leaving it that way...the o-rings will only take so much before they give up.

sometimes the glow plug relay is on and sometimes not. that causes a pressure difference on my truck for sure. but i wouldnt worry about 75. just give it a quick tap of the throttle and you should be fine. might be built up fuel in the system already. ive seen 75 psi on my airdog II and ran at that. as long as its not 80 psi you should be fine

I've read in this forum that 70-ish is the highest to you want go. It's my understanding that the closer to 75psi you get the closer to o-ring failure. Am I misunderstanding the cut-off number for fuel pressure?

The problem is only when the engine is cold and goes away after a while. It happens once in a while....not to often though. I'll keep my eye on it for sure.
