Im trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with my brakes i seem to have no front, fluid is good ,levels are all good ,no leaks can any one help 01 f 150 xlt 4.2
i go to stop and it seems as though i have very little braking , the pedal does not go to floor or any thing like that it just seems as if one brake is stopping the truck and now the rotors are violently vibrating like there warped i took wheels off and i have a lot of pad left but it seems the fronts arent even working because the pads ar not as worn a s the rear and i replaced them all the same time last summer i was thinking maybe the routing block that sits under the master cylinder could be bad some how i would not know how to check it thanks for responding
My Aerostar did that, it was the Brake hoses. On my F-150 truck, there are five hoses. One at each wheel, and one at center axle. Did you do a lift, and not install longer hoses?
there is only one piston on most calipers. the one side pad hits the disc, then the calilper shifts sideways and the other side pad hits the disc and they clamp together to stop... if everything moves, i dont know why you think there is no brake. have someone push the pedal slightly while in teh air and you should not be able to pry to wheel to turn. you can also take the caliper off and put a 1/2 inch plywood piece between the pads and push brake and see if the puck comes out and applies force.
my 97 has dual piston calipers. but if theres not equal pressure, only one will come out if you hit the breaks. AKA, hitting the breaks to test the calipers off the wheels is useless.
exactly what is happening only one piston comes out thats why i was wondering if theres a way to test the distribution box under the master cyl.thanks again every one i really appreciate the input
