Speakers cut out Shift related

This is driving me crazy, 04 f-250 4x4 v10, if I push down my shift lever while in drive or hit a bump and it does it its self the stereo speakers turn off. Push it back up they come back on. Why would there be speaker related wiring in my shift column? Any idea what I should be looking to fix this? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Are you sure that just the speakers cut out or does the whole radio turn off? There is a wire in the column that rubs and over time, wire will become exposed and cause a short. I believe that that wire somewhere is attached to a circuit that also controls the radio.
