Swapping questions PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have a 79 f150 running a 300 i6 with a manual 4 speed. I am swapping a 351 Windsor and I wanted to know if I have to find a new ECM for it or no. That is my main question. Thanks in advance for any help provided

Definitely. The computer made for a 6 cylinder engine will not operate an 8 cylinder engine, nor vice-versa. Best to grab the computer for the v8, or one out of a truck with similar engine. And grab all the wiring harness and sensors and actuators (AIR, EGR...)
Or install a carburetor and avoid the computer hassles.

there is no computer on a 79, unless it had a fuel injected engine put into it.

now if you are talking about the ignition control module, as long as it has a black grommet on it it should work with the V8
