Hello guys i am new here as i tend to stay over on the diesel side of the forum but now i am looking at getting some better mpg. I have found a 2001 ex cab 2wd ranger that hit a ditch. It has 138 on it and and is completely straight except the front right corner. It will need new front bumper, right fender and all the suspension piece's for the front right corner, and one new tire. This truck is a auto with no options. also has the 3.0v6. I will do all the work to get it driving myself, what is this truck worth in your guys' eyes??
I offered $500 and he said he would get back to me tonight. I told him it was worth $3k and it needed $2500 in repairs. I think he bit we will find out
I agree, i think if i get it for $500, i can put about $700 worth of parts into and have a truck to drive for a good price. It will have a salvage title as well
Bumper, tire and suspension buggered up, it's a safe bet the frame is tweeked as well. You won't get hurt real bad if you only give $500 for it, but don't be surprised to be surprised when you start taking it apart to fix it.
I would figure a body shop that had frame pulling fixtures would take 1 hour to set it up, ten seconds to read the computer screen and know if it were tweaked or not, and if not that's it. If it was bent, I'd figure, frame pulling only, that it would take at least another hour to pull it. So that's a likely 2 hour minimum.
If you get the shop manuals, or access to them, you can do the diagonal measurements yourself to know if it needs straightening. There are specific spots on the frame that are used to square and plumb, so to speak.

the tire is off because the upper ball joint broke. As it sits right now the front tire is in the bed with the hub, brake and other parts still bolted to it. There is grass between the tire and wheel so i am guessing that it blew the bead. Tire might still be ok not sure but not counting on it. My buddy has a wrecker so i think i can get a tow for a case of beer. Only has to go 4 miles. I am going to stop back by today, jack it up, block up and run it to make sure the tranny feels solid. I will take some pics to get you better ideas of the damage.
