Over by the scrap recycling yard in Ventura theres a lot full of old cars but no one is ever there and theres only a number on the gate for emergencies, Ive always looked and the old cars rotting away there (i doubt anyone has been in the lot for several years now) and noticed not to long ago there is a Slick tow truck sitting there in the middle of the lot. the body looks straight and it still has the old hook and arm for towing, once the 63 is back together im gonna drive over there and see if i can figure out who owns the lot and see if hes interested in selling any of the vehicles that are there. id hate to see all these good project cars go to waste, most appear to be straight with some rust but i havent been able to get close enough to see how bad
Good morning Dave, hey I've just joined and have noticed alot of people mentioning slicks what are they referring to?
The Ford trucks from 1961-1966 are often referred to as "Slicks", taking the name from the "Slick 60's". When you look at the trucks fender lines and such,
they just plain look slick! 1967-72 trucks are called "Bumps" or "Bumpsides" as they have a bump running down the sides, and 1971-79 are called "Dentsides" for the opposite reason.
Call the number on the gate. Maybe they know who owns it and how to get ahold of that person. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Might also be the person that knows all about the place and owns the truck. Worst they can say is nothing for sale and leave the place alone. Or might say yea everthing is up for grabs.

I agree....I've ended up with some cool iron with leads much more sketchy than what you have there.
ya i have the interior of the truck torn apart right now so im hoping to get over there by early next week at the latest, theres probably about 100 old cars on the lot but nothing ever moves. i will definitely tell you guys what i find out, im not exactly in a position to pick up another project but maybe someone on here will be able to save the old truck.
It is an emergency, after all a slick is in there.
Very true.

I would love a picture of that lot if you get a chance. (what I mean by that is I expect that you will find one of my top three wishlist project vehicles and I want to torture myself with the prospect of making it work while ultimately deciding to stay with my current project)
lvin4jc33: i will post pics when i go over there, its definitely a cool lot
tbm3fan: i dont know the address i just know where it is, its one lot down from the corner of nardo st and lirio in ventura on the east side of the street
Found it using [nardo & lirio Ave. ventura ca]. He does have a lot in there! Eight are under a cover and the really old ones are at the back end along the east fence line.
ya the trucks on the south east edge of the lot about halfway down the fence from the street. its orange with the tow bed. if i can get into the lot ill be sure to walk around and get pictures. im hoping this guy ends up being willing to let go of some of these cars and trucks
Finally got over to the lot today, Id never seen anyone at the lot and by coincidence the owner was there. The truck appears to be a 63, it is however a F350 2wd with a 360 and 4spd. He wants $800 and says the truck ran a year ago.
