Royal Sport Bed

I currently have a 2001 F350 with 7.3 diesel and it has the 9ft. Royal sport bed on it. I am looking to get a standard 8ft. bed has anyone ever switched one of these out or have a available 8ft. bed.

I'm sure a factory bed will bolt right up. I cant imagine Royal making their bed so extensive as to modify the frame.

Any 99-11 will bolt up but they changed the looks of the bed for 2011. The best place to find beds it truck upfitters and body shops.

On your door sticker does it say "incomplete vehicle" that may create an issue.

That would depend on if it started life as a pickup, or chassis/cab.

Even if it was built initially as a chassis cab, worst case scenario, wouldn't the holes for the bed mounts just have to be drilled into the frame or is the frame different?

Those Royal Sport beds are ugly IMO.

I would just look at the mounting blots on your bed and compare to another LWB SD. If they are in the same places, the bed will swap right out, AND if the Royal Sport bed is in good condition, you could sell it and recoup some of the cost.

maybe this guy would swap : looking for utility bed (oem looking, royal sport) ..anyone have one? - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

I'd contact royal sport and ask if they use the stock holes. If So, I'd place ads everywhere, (this forum, CL, etc) and see if anyone wants to swap.

cab/chassis trucks have different rear frames then pickup models.. so the bed from a reg truck wont simply bolt up..

I'm looking for a 9' Sport body if anyone has a lead on one. And you can contact Royal directly to ask about swapping out the body. I know the Sport Body was mounted onto a cab chassis directly. Their website has contact info: Royal Truck Body

Chassis cabs are narrower, @ 34" wide, and don't have the dip that pickup frames do. Lot's of work to make a bed designed for one fit the other.

Can you post some pictures of the bed? I had never seen that before started looking online the is exactly what I want If I lived near you and the bed was in good shape I would swap with you.

There is so much wasted space between the inside bed sheet metal and the outside sheet metal on these trucks. Dodge has a good idea with the new storage lockers on the side of the beds.
