HEllo my fellow ford friend I need some advise. I have a 1993 ford f150 4.9 inline six 5 speed 4x4. Love my truck. The problem that im having is that when it starts it has a hard time starting. Acts like it has no gas its not idling and it wants to die out. the second problem that i am having is in third and fourth gear i have no go power when i am cruising and get on the pedal. I have put new plugs and wire on it, changed the oil less than 1500 miles ago. IDK what it is or could be. also i ran seafoam through the fuel tank. plz help
i would check a couple of things first with connecting a fuel pressure gauge to the port on the fuel rail this looks like a tire valve on the fuel rail turn the key on but do not start the engine the pressure should start to build and needle jump up. do this a couple of times you should have at least 40 psi pressure if not clogged fuel filter or pump is going out i forget but check your manual i believe 93 had a low pressure pump and a high pressure pump one on the frame and one in the tank you may want to check your o2 sensor on the passenger side exhaust manifold you will see it from the underside looks like a obscure protusion of a stick stuck in your exhaust with a wire going to it Good LUck hope this helps
gb you might put a vaccum guage on it also it should be study and (guessing here) but around 19 lbs of vac. and this would cause both problems listed . listen for small air leaks when running
