2002 Expedition Video System
I hope this is the proper forum to post this. Just got the wife a 2002 Expedition EB. Truck was in excellent condition. I think I have everything figured out except for the rear entertainment. It has the VCP in the console and it works. But, I noticed on the flip down display it has a AV1 and AV2. AV1 is the video player, but I can not find an input for AV2. I thought there would be RCA jacks or something for AV2. Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure I will have more questions down the road. Thanks in advance for all the knowledge on this board.

Hi, we have the wireless headphones and the remote and they work fine. If the kids are watching a movie (on the tape player in the console), the overhead tv screen has a selection of AV1 or AV2. If AV1 is selected the movie is displayed. If you select AV2, the screen goes blank. I do not have anything (that I know of) connected to the AV2 input for the tv. That is what I am trying to find, is where is the input for AV2. I have pulled the video cassette player out of the console, hoping there would be regular RCA cables that connect to it back to the TV, but it is a bundle into a molex connector that plugs into the back of the player. There are no other inputs into the player, and no "unused" connectors that could be the input to the TV for AV2. Thanks for your help. I have thought about pulling the player out and put in a DVD. I think we have 2 kids tapes. I may have to dig out the old VCR and copy stuff from DVD to tape. That just sounds wrong.

There is a small unlabeled black cover plate on the front of your overhead video display unit - remove that cover with your fingertips/finger nail. You now will see a total of three yellow (video), white (left audio) and red (right audio) RCA input jacks. You can plug in a video game. Pressing the SELECT button on that overhead console will illuminate either AV1 (the installed VCR) and AV2 (your chosen video game). Old tech, for sure. Ask the dealer for the "Expedition Rear Seat Entertainment System User Manual", Ford part number YL1J-19A285-AA, originally perinted in OCT 2000.

Awesome. That is exactly where it is. Thanks for the help. I never would have thought to look there. I was hoping it would be somewhere a little more convenient without having to have a cable run from the floor to roof, but it will work until I replace the VHS with a DVD player. Anybody know of a direct replacement DVD player?
Thanks again,
Mike

DVD
Ive looked around for a few months for a replacement DVD, couldnt find one so I disconnected the VCR and spliced into the wire using a wire diagram I was able to find.
the video wire is a black thin coax wire (although it is thicker than the other wires). The sound is;
White - Left Audio out +
Light Green - Left Audio -
Red - Right Audio out +
Black - Right Audio -
Power is Black Pink
Ground is Black / Light Green
These wires are paired up on the harness (top and bottom connectors)
There are 3 additional black wires that are for the IR control
I tested the connections before splicing the wires, was pretty easy.
good luck.

Sorry for the slow reply. I redid everything. The monitor and video player were the same brand. All I had to do was run a constant power from the acc point in the third row arm rest for memory on the dvd player. Also I have the IR transmitter by the screen so i just need the head phones. Tried it out with a friends and it was working. Would like a replacement screen though.

Yes. I put a Boss single din DVD player under the third row and just plugged in the rca wires in the back of the DVD player. There is a 3.5mm headphone plug in the harness that I Think goes to the center console but it is mono. I didn't hook that up. I tapped into the aux. port for a memory wire power and bought some ir head phones. Everything works great except you can only listen through the head phones which is what I wanted. I want to look for a replacement screen. Mine is ok but faded.
