Hi guys,
Quick question.....How hard is it to switch a truck box from a 1974 f100 to a 1974 f250. Will it bolt right up? What am i looking at for problems? Thanks...you guys know your stuff!
The only remaining issu is if your F250 is a 4X4 (highboy). That's the switch I just did, If yours is a 2wd the switch will be mostly painless. all bolts will hypothetically line up and all wiring and fuel connections. I say hypothetically, because well there were several plants and lots of years of production and wear in there!
If you're playing with a Highboy, then all of the above will NOT be the same.
*First, the bed bolts will NOT line up! the frame rail on the Highboy is narrower, there are several posts dealing with the difference and options, gusseted tabs welded to the frame seemed to me to be the easiest
**Second, the fuel necks & components don't even apply unless you fab in a tank of your own. (I used a poly fuel tank out of an '85 F250 IDI which fits between the rails perfectly and then modded the brackets to cinch it down.)
***Wiring should be the same, barring the fuel stuff. Hope this helps.
There are other more in-depth posts on this site, but since I just did the same exact swap, I figured I'd chime in!
