ive got a 1974 f100 360 4x4 how do you know if the brain box on the fire wall is going bad and can you test please help if you can

If you mean the Electronic Ignition unit, it can be tested. I did it a while back (my problem turned out to be the pick-up coil). You should be able to find the method at this link.
