Headlight switch replacement.
Headlight switch replacement.
I bought a new switch a couple of years ago but forgot how to replace it. "I'm old and have CRS". The dash light resistor is bad. If it matters the truck is a '68 F250.
This requires some contortions...there is a little button/tab up on the body of the switch. You have to feel around and find this and hold it down while you pull the **** and shaft out of the switch housing. Then the switch bezel on the dash just unscrews and the switch drops out. Reverse the procedure to install, but beware...the replacement I got for my 69 F250 at Autozone was a direct, easy swap but it really grips the ****/shaft...seems like it won't release for another change...and I couldn't get the bezel back on with the replaement switch...the little ring that says Lights would not fit back on...and yeah, it's a cheap China replacement part, so no surprise there. It works, but must be a universal application.
when i first got my 69 f250 flatbed the battery kept going dead.found out the brake lights run through the headlight switch, replaced that and a lot of my lighting problems were solved. except for the buckets for the headlights the p.o. removed and lost the parts i had to go to the wrecking yard to get those parts.
