OK this is what I'm thinking.... am I nuking it or not????
when my F-250 comes in this is what I plan to do..
1) after 1500 miles change the oil and filter do this for the first 3 1500 miles
2) after 5000 miles suck the gear oil out and replace with the purple ****
I'd change the oil once at an early interval and then go every 5k after that. What you have outlined is overkill if you ask me but if you have the money, why not.
off topic question here but 2000silverbullet im looking into ordering the same truck you just bought, 2011 f-350 4x4 crew cab long bed with 6.2 and 4.30 gears and was wondering do you think its enough motor and gear for a truck that big? and what kind of mpg's you getting around town if you dont mind
freedom one when i bought my 2004 i did the same thing changed oil at 1000miles with full synthetic oil and ford oil filter. i change ever 4000 miles since, i do complete tranny flus ever two years no matter what changed axle oil at 50k will do again at 100k. i have 90,037 miles today. O i also changed t-case at 50k and will again at 100k.

You'll notice a huge improvement over the 5.4/4R100 combo (no offense to those with that combo). To me, the motor and trans has enough power for my use but we'll see in August how it really does. I'm heading over to Ohio for the truck meet.
I'm getting about 10.5 mixed city/hwy driving. I'm not light on the throttle in the least bit so you could easily gain another 1-2mpg if you wanted. I haven't been on any long trips with it yet so I can't comment on a full tank of highway mpg's.

YAY! Will you pull too? We didn't have any 6.2's hang around last time to pull.
As to the original question - it will probably depend on what engine too. I would imagine it wouldn't hurt to change the oil early the first round since its new (parts wearing together). I will be having Blackstone test my oil. I'll have to start up a new record once I get my first sample out of the new rig.
