So my 87 F250 460 4 barrel carb 4speed 2wd suddenly decided its not going to start The weird thing is that I drove it into the garage Monday so that I could replace the clutch/brake pedal bracket, I got it all put back together Started it up and went to run it up to about 1500 to 2000rpm cause it won't run unless its warmed up but when I pressed the accelerator it got to about 1200 then just stalled now all it will do is crank and crank and crank but it wont fire up and im confused cause it ran fine 2 days ago. please help!!!!!
This is the first carburated vehicle I have ever owed or worked on so what would be the best method of checking for fuel and could it be spark cause yesterday it turned right over an ran for about 3 to 4 minutes but when the rpms started to die down i gave it throttle to bring it back up just like when im warming it but it acted like it was out of gas when it the throttle it just died out.
So I did some more playing around with my truck and actually dumped gas straight in the carb but it only ran untilvit burn the gas i put in there any ideas guys could it be a clogged fuel filter.
My truck has the dual tank option but the previous owner said that the front tank rotted through so they just removed it and capped off the lines and it only runs on the rear tank.
id say hook up a pressure gauge to the fuel line and make sure its even getting fuel should be pushing about 60 psi i believe to start and run efficiently
