Just purchased a 99 Explorer xlt with a 4.0 SOHC engine. The airbag light flashes a code of 37 three times then glows steady. Any ideas what code 37 is. I've tried a variety of sources on the 'net' and can't find anything. Your help is appreciated. Thanks, Scott
When the airbag light is on the airbags dont work so dont crash til you fix it
The light flashout code 37 means you have a problem with the passenger's side airbag. There are 4 different trouble codes that all have the 37 light flashout code. If you took it to your dealer they would scan it for codes and could narrow it down to which of the 4 codes you have.
Having said that, in my experience with these the most common thing is for someone to have kicked apart the wiring connector under the passenger's seat. Take a look there for bad connections.
Let us know what you find.
Thanks for your help once again! I went out into the garage and looked under the passenger seat and found the wiring harness. The two-wire white tipped end appeared to be loose and when I pushed it back into place, the airbag light went out.
Can I assume that the system is now functioning and the bags will deploy if needed?
