Replacing Injector sleeves

So what is the preferred method of cleaning the bore in the cylinder head after removing the brass sleeve? The instructions say wire wheel just wondering if there are any tricks or tips I should know before hand.

Another question I have, is there a trick to the back cylinder on the passenger side next to the heater? as far as installing the new one goes. There is not much room to drive the new one in.

I got all of the sleeves out, the water jackets looks good and clean. The only thing I see that needs to be cleaned is the left over lock tight just a little ring on the top bore and a little around the bottom bore/seat.

One more thing, I have a whole tool box full of tools and I didn't have either socket that was needed to remove the sleeves. I have several 3/4" deep sockets (both Snap-On and Mac) but none of them would fit over the head of the main bolt on the puller. For the 1/2" 12 point socket I have several 1/2" sockets but no 12 point. I had to resort to my wife's emergency tool kit made in Taiwan to get the sockets I needed. LOL

Clay,
I suggested Tim contact you to rent the tools. I believe he tried several times with no answer, so he bought a set of mine.

Tim,
I would not use any brushes in the bores unless the heads are off the motor. I would not want to risk getting crap in the injector nozzle hole and into the chambers below.
I would rig up a small hose on a shop vac if it looks at all crusty in there. Otherwise the 2 places that the sleeves press into will be clean anyway.

Good luck.

Edit: Sorry about your socket issues. 12 pt 1/2" is really common, as is a 3/4" deepwell, that's why we went with those.

No problem, we have several but they are always out with customers and he probably couldn't wait.

I do have the reinstall tool here though if that helps on this one.

Hey no problem on the tools I have lots of sockets both 1/2" and 3/8" drive. I just had to laugh that none of my good stuff would work and had to relay on a cheap set my wife has in her rig.

Thanks Clay, As Jim said he did refer me to you, I had tried a couple of times during the day but got impatient and ordered a set. I like having my own stuff anyway.

Why are you changing the sleeves?
