Need more info on the vehicle. Is it a truck or van? 4x4 or 4x2?

97-99 same motor
2000-2004 same block with PI heads
2005-2010 same block 3V heads
If it's in a van 2000-2010 the same all have 2V PI heads

You can use a 2000-2004 engine in your '99 if you get the intake manifold for a 2000-2004 truck. Besides the "PI" heads, the other difference is there is no egr on the 2000-2004 engines. The boss is there covered up with a plate so you can reuse your old stuff on it.

The EGR depends on where the truck was bought, My 2000 V10 work truck came out of Texas with no EGR and my 2000 V10 play truck came out of Oregon so it had California emissions with EGR.
