oil leak

Ok guys, I need some help. The wife has an 03 Excursion 6.0 with 90k. There is oil leaking all over the drive. I took it to the local ford dealer to find the leak and they said it a gasket up buy the oil filter. I asked a couple of times and they didn't know the actual part name . Does anyone know what gasket they could be talking about. I would like to save the 250.00 they want to fix it by doing it myself, just need to know what the heck the part is. Thanks for the help.

I cant tell where its coming from. I have been all over, under, inside and out and cant find it. I will go see if I cant get them to give me the name of the part (maybe it will be a different service tech). I was just hoping that someone had been down this road before. Thanks again and keep the ideas rolling.

lots of us been down this road well at least been into the oil cooler theres just alot of gaskets right there is the problem

get a flashlight and try and pinpoint where its coming from clean it off if you can blow it with compressed air and watch it while it idels

look at the one at the base of the round oil filter and at the oil line that goes to turbo look at the bottom of the turbo oil line

theres only a few you can get without majoir work Ill try and find a pic

Thanks Benny. I called the Ford dealer this morning and talked to someone that actually helped me. They claim that the tech notes state that its the oil regulator gasket leaking. Has anyone changed these out, if so how big of a job is it? thanks again.

I found a oil press regulator located on front cover, seem it would be leaking up though. Has the oil been changed lately if so could be oil filter cap o ring , don't ask how i know, but can leak bad or just a little, something to check

have you narrowed down the location of the leak [top of moter to back of moter or front moter]

I was thinking that gasket to david or the lower one same location pic in first link

I will try to answer all the question and thanks again for all the help. Yes the oil is running off the back of the motor. There is no oil on the front. I cant tell where but it looks like somewhere around the oil filter. I Have never hear of a oil pressure regulator either. that just what the blue oval shop told me. I changed the oil about 3k ago and it was even leaking before then. I loose maybe a 1/4 of a quart of oil ever 4k. it is just making mess all over the drive and where i park at work. Thanks again for ALL the help FTE has been.
