I just purchased a 2002 F250 XLT Crew Cab 4x4 5.4L Gas engine with 157K miles. The truck is extremely clean and well maintained. I live in the mountains in Colorado and I would like to do some preventative maintenance so I can be completely sure of what has and hasn’t been done. I want to change the oil to synthetic (Mobile 1) oil filter, change the transmission fluid, change the spark plugs, fuel filter, etc. I would really appreciate any input on brand of fluids and plugs for replacement based on experience. Also what else should I do to ensure a nice long life for my truck. Thanks!

 

From my experience working on all varieties of vehicles, it all depends on preference and bank roll. I personally use valvoline synthetic oil, and fram filters. Have used Lucas transmission fluid in my 98 dakota when i lost reverse. continued to drive it and somehow a year later it will drive backwards all day.
