Question Help with gauges

I'm looking at buying a set of three pillar mount Glow Shift gauges for my 2005 F-250 6.0L PS. One of them without a doubt will be a EGT. I'm also thinking one of the other two should be a Transmission Temp because I am pulling a 32' fifth wheel with an automatic transmission. However, I would really like anyone's input for the remaining two gauges. I might add more at a later date, but for now I have to stick with just the three.

engine oil temp, coolant temp, voltage and fuel pressure are all important items to monitor. You can always add a few at a time. Or look into the edge CTS.

I recommend somthing like the Edge Insight CS/CTS for monitoring the engine via factory sensors. I run a similar hybred setup myself, with Autometer Pyro, and Trans Temp. (Fuel and Oil Pressure installed in the next week or so).

EGT, Trans temp and oil pressure are the big three.

Thumbs up

Thanks to all of you! I really like the CTS idea, but getting the wife to let me spend that much right now is a different story especially since I am going to install a 4" exhaust very soon

I know the feeling but after you run the numbers for all the things you want or need to monitor and the gauge pods to mount them. You actually save money. Not to mention running all the wires. Just something to consider...

Depends on what you are looking to monitor. Case in point here Standard Insight CS runs around $300. At a minimum, you will still need the EGT probe - non expandable $110. (I got my Autometer Pyro for $180). Now you've decided to modify the truck a bit more and want that fuel pressure, now you're dropping another $145 for the EAS Probe. And Fuel Pressure is going to run $145. So you can get just as carried away with the Edge Products as you can with gauges. Those are just estimates off the Edge Website. The Insight CTS with Pyro and FP, is gonna run around $700. You can build a good gauge set for that price, for those of use who prefer the look of gauges. Wiring is second nature to me, so I don't sweat it.

I run a hybrid Insight/Autometer setup in my truck, and I don't look at the Insight much more than start ups for FICM voltage and watching HPOP pressures come up. I monitor 8 parameters on the Insight, off factory sensors, and the rest are on gauges. The only downside (other than installation) to the gauges, is that you can set the Insight to alarm at set points, visually and audibly.
