You ALL have had it made. Especially if you only had to replace 1 or 2 parts, or even 3, at once.
In my case the tranny went belly up in November of 2001 and had it rebuilt. A month later(December 2001) the engine blew a hole in #5 piston. So I had it rebuilt and I ended up having to wait 10 months for all the parts(mostly performance parts) in order to get it running in better than new condition. Well no sooner than 2 or 3 weeks after engine was running and I was driving it around town and the transfer case had broke off, in November/December 2003, because the trannies output shaft had seized. rebuilt tranny again and also rebuilt transfer case.
Well, just last month I was driving off-road all day long with no problems. Until I was on my way home on the highway, the engine just dies. after scratching my head for 5 minutes trying to figure out whyI was able to start it and dirve off. About 40 miles later the engine dies again, and that time I had to be towed home. Come to find out that the fuel pump(so I thought) went bad, and the ignition module was definately bad. The poor thing was still not running right, so I started to pull codes. Within a matter of 2 weeks, last month, I had replaced the
1) fuel pump, Fuel filter, & Fuel pressure regulator
2) Ignition module
3) Distributer
4) MAP Sensor
5) Alternator
6) O2 Sensor
So that's about 8 parts I had to replace. And now my Starter was on its way out so I just replaced last week. It almost seems as though that my rig is jinksed. What's next???
Good luck to all
I forgot one other part that I replaced in my last post. Which was the water pump, that I had replaced along with all the other stuff.
The starter motor that I put in last week, had a slight hickup though. The gear of starter was hitting the fly wheel while engine was running. So I had contacted PowerMaster, the maker of my new Starter and the 200amp alternator that I installed last month. Well needless to say that they had the solution and then next day FedEx a set of shims for this very problem, and I was up and running almost the next day. Now that was customer service and why I am pretty much a loyal customer of PowerMaster.
This month has been a bad one for me and my bronco.
1st engine blew
2nd tranny modulator pump went out after new engine was put in
3rd & hopefully last my radiator blew today on the pass side in the plastic cant fix must replace am in the process of doing that now.
Hey Hwy Apostle
You got off easy with only $4000. I think in the past two or three years I had probably spent about $15,000 roughly. I'm afraid to total the amount spent. It's scarry. Could have bought a new rig with this money. But I wouldn't have had all the goodies put on, that I have now.
geesh, you guys are depressing me! I come back from spring break and 10days without my FTE and I check the forum and this is what I see?! Come on guys! where is the Love?!
Atleast you guys could find all the parts you want! I still cant find that freaking Turn Signal Fluid Pump! Geesh! I found the site with the fluid, but NO PUMP!
