Just installed the Scangauge II and went for a drive down the interstate. 72 degrees outside flat level drive, no towing 70MPH. ECT 191 and EOT 222 Truck runs super otherwise.
Looks like you're doing a oil cooler rebuild. Nearly 30* is a huge spread, my gaskets went south on me with out 19*. Do you have any of the blown head gasket symptoms?

No symptoms. Truck runs very strong. Haven't lost on drop of coolant. Without this gauge I would have had no idea.
Think it's saveable? A good back flush maybe? I guess it couldn't hurt to try.
A flush will never clear a clogged cooler, and yours is clogged bad. Have you popped the EGR valve off yet and checked for moisture? You need to know if the EGR cooler has ruptured, and that is a good easy way to check.
If you haven't seen any of the other signs, get the cooler rebuilt soon. Ford offers a rebuild kit now for around $200 and change that only replaces the internals. Since you'll have the upper portion of than engine apart anyways, I recommend you replace the EGR cooler as well. Usually if one's gone, the other ain't too far behind.
Since you are going in there, update the STC, clean your intake, update the fuel regulator, drill out or buy bigger fuel banjos. I drilled mine out because it was cheaper and i drilled holes bigger than what you get with the 6.4 banjo.

An 03 doesn't have an STC fitting on the pump but everything else is OK to do.
It does not buy you any time. You do not want the oil cooler to explode either. Oil in the cooling system has to be cleaned out and you would have the added joy of replacing every rubber hose under the hood the coolant runs through.
I don't know for sure why they explode but I would hazard a guess that the continual high heat cycling weakens it.
For the 300 bucks in parts and the 6-8 hours to fix it, it isn't worth putting off.
I'll definately replace it. Now the question is, is it worth spending a little extra for an aftermarket oil cooler or are the new ford oil coolers just as good? I don't think I'd trust a rebuild kit.
