My main question is what do you unplug before at distributor before checking timing. There's only one plug at the distributer that has half a dozen wires that disables the ignition. How do you bypass the advance on this model?
Spout connector located on driver side, near TFI/ICM module. I don't have a picture for you, but I know there is one floating around here courtesy of SubFord. Very easy to locate. If yours has never been touched then it may be wrapped in electrical or tacky cloth.
SPOUT plugs have been done a few ways. Main thing to know is that it's a one pin plug. One of the lines from the TFI connects to the SPOUT.
When I had an F150, it was a single pin connector that pulled apart. I have heard of some that had a jumper that you pulled out to disconnect the wire.

Thanks guys. the pic Subford supplied is just like mine. Well, my wife's. We just got the truck for her. Pictures to come. Anyway thanks again. With all the vehicles and work I've done over the years I had never even heard of a spout connector or shorting bar !
