hello this is my first post, but now that I found you will not be my last I am sure. I bought a 1988 ford f-350 diesel dually off my dad. it has only 88K actual miles on it. since 2003 only 35k more have been put on it( all papers in it) since my dad bought it over 3 years ago it has mostly just sat.
we took it a few days ago to pick up a trailer. of course no a/c. gauges barely move on it. but prior to trip Paul has changeed all fluids cept tranny. new filters, greased & lubed. just general stuff for a 5 hr drive total.
when we got home key was HOT, steering column was Hot also.
so far only major problem. well other than shifts hard he says add on 6's do that? No a/c. drives steers fine.
he tried a/c fluid it works, but he still feels heat. THINKS maybe heater is not shutting off? ideas as I am now needing a friend to NOW go buy her horse back as buyer is threatening kill barn...........

No hot wire smell, no melted wires seen. he says looks like outside air into cab hose is off. plans on looking at it more today. Thiknks lotsa gaskets dried out too tho

Not exactly sure what you are saying. Are you saying that the heater blows hot air all the time? If so, lift the hood and look at the vacuum servo on top of the heater box at the pass side firewall. Make sure that the vacuum pipe is good and that the servo works. Also check all the vacuum pipes to the heater controls in the cab.
Hopefully someone who knows more about the heating system will give an opinion soon.
