Replacing shocks...

Hi guys!
I just picked up new shocks.
2 Front and 2 Rear
What's the procedure for swapping them out?
Do I just jack 1 side up (floor jack),loosen the top bolts then the bottom bolt and knock it out??
Does the new 1 just slip into place?
Do I get it fully bolted before releasing the shock?

You don't have to jack the truck up(I didn't). Just take m' out, lol.

To put them back don't cut the wire holding it compressed until you have one bolt in, then cut the strap and get the bolt in before it can full extend.

No need to jack it up??
Ok I'll give it try and do the front in about 45min.
I'll post back then with results.
Thanks for the heads up

I jacked the front up to take off the wheels but there is no reason to jack the back up or the front if you can get to it.

Thats the hard part lol. getting to it. I always jacked mine up, because if i did it right it would fully extend the shock, makes it easier to move around.

Took me 20 min (had to heat the front shock bolts) on my F150 to do all 4 shocks.

All 4 were original, damn thing rode like a Caddy!

Now....rides like a truck again....

Front 1's were easy enough.
The plastic tie-back was broken on 1 so it was a little tougher but no big deal.
Also,I did afterall jack it up and removed the tires.
Way easier with them out of the way.
Just backed the truck in the shop and I'm going after the rear 1's now

At least it doesn't ride like a dump truck like my F250 did!

Felt nice for a while driving a truck that had a big soft 70's car suspension

Nope!
Can't remove the lower nut
I didn't buy replacement bolts so I can't hack it off
My propane bottle is empty so can't apply any heat
And I don't have the right socket...
19mm too big
3/4" too big
11/16 too small
17mm too small
Don't have an 18mm for some reason
I'll drench it in ATF and let it soak overnite try again in the morning.

Sound like my week, nothing seemd to work. Nothing would come off of Leaf springs. Ground hanger rivits to nothing and would not pop, hanger refused to come off

Wife got tired and broke down and let me get a compressor and Air tools Life is once again great, maybe, She suggested a nail gun also, must have a project in her mind
