wiring problems...NEED HELP!!

Hey everyone, I have some major wiring issues on my 79 f250. I am restoring the truck and its time to do some wiring...
A.. lot of the wire are burnt and rat's got into my barn and chewed on a....lot of wires.
The truck doesn't have a/c, or smog pumps. I am taking out the factory guages and installing mechanical ones. My goal is having as few electrical wires as possible. The only things i need is headlights, <a href="http://motorhaven.autoanything.com/"><a href="http://motorhaven.autoanything.com/"><a href="http://motorhaven.autoanything.com/">taillight</a></a></a>s, blinker, wipers, and ignition. I need help wiring from the battery to starter relay to voltage regulator to ignition module to distributor. I dont know how to wire these things up to get the truck started when i get my motor back.
I read the manual but something are greek to me. the ignition module has so many wires, not sure were they go, this is what really has me confused. they're melted or chewed. Im almost tempted just to put in a push button to get rid of the wiring mess! any help is greatly appreciated.

If the existing harness is very bad off(sounds like it is) I would recomend just getting another harness from the junkyard and swapping it in. Just make sure it's not ratty too. It seems like a pretty daunting task until you get going then it's not really too bad. A little patiance goes a long ways. Two things to watch out for ; try to get one as close to your model/year as you can most '73-79 f series harnesses are similar but there are a few minor and a few major differences. Stay away from the first 2 years of the duraspark module. They don't interchange with the later ones.If you have a manual trans look for the nuetral start switch plug (flat plug two wires) and make sure it has a jumper plug in it. Some models had a separate branch on the pass. side of the firewall for the alternator etc. others just crossed over behind the engine. I guess it doesn't sound so simple but it really isn't that bad. I've parted out several of these trucks and I always salvage the wiring. Electrical stuff was never Ford's strong point and it never hurts to have spares.Good luck,Gabe

I am getting the impression you want to do your own wiring. But if you have trouble reading diagrams, I would get a aftermarket harness like they make for street rods. About as simple as you can get is a 65 mustang. I copied that diagram to some degree when I wired my 53 f100.
