Help!!!! On A Question Please

Both gaskets should be identical. If they are just flip one around so both water ports are to the front.

Help!!!! On A Question Please

i just took a very old 351m apart. i checked the head gaskets and found that both heads have the front, lower, teardrop ports blocked. the rear teardrop shaped ports are open.
some ports are around 3/8" but the gasket may only have a 1/8" hole.
interesting question. i wonder why the gaskets are open, closed and restricted on others?
in any event, i would beleave the gasket is ok and is just some form of delebrate variation. i have a lot of confidence in fel-pro.

Help!!!! On A Question Please

You only need the front top opening for the water to circulate.
if you look at the gasket is says Front on one side.. just make sure it's points to the front .. one gasket is right side up and the other is right side down ....

Help!!!! On A Question Please

Well if it's a design change then it's been awhile since they changed it .. All the motors I build using the FelPro gaskets they never had holes on both ends just the front ..Granted Ive only been building motors for about 5 years, but that when I started using FelPro gaskets...

Help!!!! On A Question Please

Here's the low down why the front water ports are sealed off on the head gasket's
This is a quote from FEL-PRO
For the reason to much water circulates in the front of the block --by sealing off the ports by using the gasket to stop the flow of water thru the tear drop ports between the head and block --more water can now be diverted to the back of the block where it is neaded-- in the past their was not enough water being circulated to the back of the block --this was acheived by a desin change----FROM FEL- PRO

Thanks to all that responded ----Andrew in Calif
