I bought a 1986 F250 with a 351 and a 4 speed two weeks ago. It ran great for two weeks and then i drove it to school today and it started knocking. We checked timing and timing is all good. we believe the camshaft broke. Any ideas?
no i have not done the oil pressure but it does not appear to be a rod knocking. When you are at idle you can tell its knocking but when the rpms get up above 1500 it gets real bad an sounds like its gonna blow.

Ok stop doing that.
Time to tear into it. Cams don't just break, so it's not likely.
Pull the intake/distributor and look around inside. Look at the pushrods, make sure they are straight. Look at the distributor gear make sure it's not sheared. Pop off the water pump and timing cover and see how the timing chain looks.
Drain the oil, see if anything other than oil comes out of the drain hole.
If you haven't seen any damage so far, take it further. Remove the oil pan, look at the bottom end. Could be something as simple as the oil pump pickup rattling around in the pan, or something more serious.
If you haven't seen anything this far...time to pull the engine.
If you don't have a stethoscope, you can use a piece of rubber heater hose or some such to try and find the location of the noise.
You might remove the valve covers and see what you find underneath, a guy out here (CamoLaw) brought his 6-banger truck to my house a few weeks ago with a bad noise, turned out one of his pushrods made its way out from underneath the rocker arm:
