04 5.4 knocking

I have a 2004 F150 that started knocking a couple weeks ago. I have 173,000 miles on it. seems to have the same power and same mpg. when i first start it up it sounds fine and then after it warms up it sounds like a diesel when idiling! serious problems?? i have always used 5w-20 motorcraft oil and all but 3 times used motorcraft filters (1 fram and two penzoil the other times) please help! thx!

Been discussed many times, if it goes away over about 1500 rpm it is more than likely cam phaser or maybe timing chain.
