It was probably 1978 or so and my brother in law would let me drive the F100 through the dump. I would sit in his lap and he would control the gas and brake. Great memories.
I was riding around in Fords before I could talk or remember anything so I guess it just kinda happened for me...
The first real memories I have are of falling asleep sitting in the middle seat of my dad's 88 F350 diesel and falling asleep any time we'd stop at a traffic light where the sun was shining in on me. And being the little hellian I was I'd get out the drivers side every chance I could and every time I'd honk the horn. Until one day it finally broke.
Then he sold that truck and got an OBS 7.3 Powerstroke mason dump F350 with a manual trans. I'd always be in the middle seat (my brother would always be in the passenger seat) and my dad would say "upshift" or "downshift" and hit the clutch and I'd shift for him. That's my first memory of a manual transmission. That truck had a habit of not staying in 3rd gear long when I'd be shifting though. Wasn't very comfortable for a middle seat passenger.
